Teruel, a land of great tradition and harmony, is delighted to host La Muestra Internacional de Folklore (The International Folklore Show). This unusual event began in 1984, and throughout its 25 shows, has turned Teruel into an exemplary ideal of what a multicultural, tolerant and hospitable city should be like.

The Show has become a cultural centre where people gather from all around the world. This demonstrates the universal aspect of this cultural display of knowledge, a cosmopolitan vocation that becomes a meeting point for folk groups and participants from an array of cultural traditions.

The distinctive communication between artistic traditions and sensitivities is a very important characteristic of this folklore show. And so is the authentic connection between the artists and public, thanks to the beauty of the rhythms, colourful clothing, and people’s interest that is always aroused by craftwork and cuisine from other parts of the world. That connection between artists and public begins during the culture and popular traditions weeks. With such an amalgam of artistic activities, the spotlight is on the world’s remote villages and on all those things that we consider unique. This beauty and aesthetic enjoyment therefore links us across any cultural divide.

The show aims to spread knowledge about every village’s particularities, while helping Teruel open up to the rest of the world.
